At Selby Community Primary School we aim to develop the pupil’s geographical knowledge of their surrounding area, Great Britain and of the World. We use maps, atlases, photos and the internet to help locate villages, towns, cities, countries, mountain ranges and seas.

Children in the Early Years are encouraged to explore their ever changing environment through outdoor experiences. The knowledge and skills they get from these experiences are coupled with the opportunity to celebrate other cultures in the world.

Opportunities are created for the children to visit different areas both locally and further a field. Trips have been made to the local woods, farms and to the seaside and our older children experience a residential trip away every year.

We believe that children who leave Selby Community Primary School leave with an awareness and understanding of their local area, Great Britain and the wider world.
