Healthy Lifestyles

At Selby Community Primary School we are committed to giving our children a healthy education. This means not only keeping them active in PE lessons and at social times but encouraging them to understand more about their diet, make healthy choices as well as being emotionally healthy too. Research from The Institute For Education has shown that children who are involved in 2 hours of extra-curricular activities achieve better by the end of primary school. In addition, studies in the UK have shown that girls' self-esteem peaks when they are approximately 9 years old, and then takes a nosedive as outside influences such as the Internet, TV and magazines seep into their consciousness, therefore it is essential that at this age they have a positive self-image. At Selby CP we aim to provide opportunities for all children to develop and enrich a positive self-image.
