School Information

About us

The school is situated on the edge of the historic market town of Selby and is part of a Children’s Centre campus serving the needs of children and families in the Flaxley Road area. This means that we can offer a range of services including integrated childcare and early education, family support services, childcare (8:00am – 6:00pm 50 weeks a year) and access to the services of a Job Centre. Other agencies also work from premises on the school site.
We currently have 260 pupils on roll, aged from 3 – 11 years of age. These children are organised into eleven classes (including the part-time nursery provision)

We offer spacious accommodation with up to date resources and equipment. This includes two halls, a library, state of the art ICT suite with high speed Broadband connection for supervised Internet access, 12 colourful and well equipped classrooms, 10 of which are fitted with an Interactive Whiteboard, a music room, an allotment and a number of small areas for specialist group work. Our school continues to be refurbished to create a modern and comfortable learning environment for the children. The school grounds and gardens are extensive and a range of exciting playground equipment has been fitted to provide superb facilities for the children at playtimes.  Our school also has a new school radio station promoting good quality speaking and listening.  Look around the website for more podcasting information.

Selby Community Primary School is an exciting, innovative and successful place for children to learn, grow and achieve in preparation for living in the twenty first century. We are committed to providing the highest standard of education for every pupil. It is a place where children really matter and every individual’s ability is recognised, nurtured, developed and celebrated.

Should you wish to visit the school and get a taste for our school, please do not hesitate to contact the office, or pop in to make an appointment. We will be happy to see you. Please take a moment to watch our 12 months at Selby CP slideshow.
